Export Institute branding Israeli boutique wines for UK marketing

Wineries involved include Efrat, Barkan, Golan, Dalton, Binyamina, Galil Mountain, Carmel Mizrachi, Noah/Hevron, and boutique wineries Amphorae, Bazelet HaGolan, HaMasrek, Yatir , Saslove, Tzora, and Domaine du Castel.

The Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute has decided to coordinate efforts to aid the Israeli wine industry to boost exports to Europe, mainly the UK, and brand high-quality Israeli wine. Among its activities in this area is a wine tasting event in London, with the participation of eighteen wineries, in cooperation with Israel’s commercial representatives in the UK.

Representing Israel at the event will be Efrat Wine Cellars, Binyamina Wine Cellars, Barkan Wine Cellars, Golan Heights Winery, Dalton Winery, Galil Mountain Winery, Carmel Mizrachi Wineries, and Noah/Hevron Heights Winery.

Boutique wineries Amphorae Vineyard, Bazelet HaGolan, HaMasrek Winery, Yatir Winery, Saslove Winery, Tzora Vineyards, and Domaine du Castel will participate under the co-brand "Handcrafted Wines of Israel".

Wines will be presented to buyers, distributors, restaurant owners, wine merchants, journalists, and wine lovers in general.

The Israel Dairy Board, the Strauss-Elite (TASE: STEL) dairy Strauss-Elite, Gad Dairies, Gilad Dairy, and Tara Agricultural Producers Cooperative Society (Tara Dairies) will also participate in the event by promoting sales of high-quality Israeli cheese.

Export Institute director Yechiel Assia said that similar events had been held last year in Stockholm and Paris, and had been greatly successful. Wine exports to Europe grew 37% to $4.5 million in 2004, while Israel’s total wine exports were up 22% to $13.6 million.
