Nana invested over $1 million in the new service over the past three years.
Internet portal Nana today announced the launch of "Nana-mail", an e-mail system offering surfers a 3-gigabye e-mailbox, and e-mail system based on Outlook 2003. Surfers registering for the service will receive it free of charge.
Google (Nasdaq:GOOG) was the first to offer an e-mailbox larger than one gigabyte, followed by Israel's Walla! Communications Ltd. (TASE:WALA). Yahoo (Nasdaq:YHOO) has subsequently also expanded its e-mailbox to one gigabyte. Microsoft's (Nasdaq:MSFT) Hotmail service has not yet joined the gigabyte club; it currently offers a 250-megabyte free e-mailbox.
Nana invested over $1 million in the new service over the past three years.
Two million individual surfers use Nana's portal every month, and it has over 250,000 hits a day. Nana offers an index of websites, chat services, forums, and various content services.
