12 Israeli semiconductor companies will this week meet their Taiwanese and Korean counterparts, including giants Samsung Corp. (KSE:830) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (NYSE:TSM; TSEC:2330). Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute director Yechiel Assia predicts that the meetings will generate $30-50 million in contracts over the next three years.
The participating Israeli companies include Tower Semiconductor Ltd. (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE:TSEM), Negevtech Ltd., Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. (Nasdaq:NVMI), TransChip Inc., Colibri Spindles Technology, and Semiconductors ADT. Israel has 25 semiconductor companies.
Israeli semiconductor exports to Asia totaled $1 billion in 2004, 30% more than in 2003. Exports to South Korea and Taiwan totaled $300 million in 2004, 40% more than a year earlier. Assia said exports to these countries would grow by 5% this year to $315 million.
