Philippines' FiberCity deploys Telco Systems solution

Telco Systems, BATM company, was selected to help bring triple play services to business and residential users in metro Manila.

BATM Advanced Communications (LSE: BVC) subsidiary Telco Systems today announced that FiberCity, an internet protocol (IP) solutions provider in the Philippines, has deployed a Telco Systems solution that includes fiber routing switches and customer premises equipment (CPE) to deliver its serial IP-based (SIP) voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phone service and commercial interactive TV services across the Philippines.

FiberCity’s facilities are connected to most business, commercial and residential buildings in the major areas, as well as to hotels, industrial areas and homes in the major subdivisions in the country. FiberCity is the first IP solutions provider in the Philippines to offer IP services via fiber optic cables from its metropolitan backbone up to the last mile.

Telco CPE devices in the network enabled FiberCity’s VoIP subscribers to plug a standard telephone, fax machine or personal computer directly to a broadband Internet service through almost any broadband access devices. The customers did not have to spend money on new equipment like VoIP telephones.

Telco CPE devices enabled many services including caller ID, call waiting, 3-way calling, voice mail, voice mail to email notification, call forwarding, call hunting, call blocking, number portability, return call (*69), anonymous call rejection, call retrieve, call notify, call transfer, selective call acceptance, simultaneous ring, virtual phone numbers and more.

The commercial launch was implemented successfully in May 2005 in metro Manila and will eventually cover all major cities throughout the country.

Telco Systems CEO Dr. Zvi Marom said, “We are pleased to have been chosen by FiberCity to launch triple play (voice, video and data) services and consider them to be a very important account in Asia."

Based in Foxboro, Massachusetts, Telco Systems, provides networking solutions to the carrier, service provider and enterprise markets. BATM designs and supplies carrier-class IP packet-based systems, such as high-capacity, self-routing switches with extensive quality of service (QoS).
