Benny Landa named Israeli entrepreneur of the year

The founder of Indigo was given the award at the Journey conference, sponsored by "Globes" and Ernst & Young.

Benny Landa, founder of Indigo, acquired by HP in 2002, was named Israeli entrepreneur of the year at the Journey conference, sponsored by "Globes" and Ernst & Young. Landa revolutionized the printing industry in 1993 by launching the world's first digital color printer, winning him the title of the "father of digital printing."

Landa is considered an extremely creative inventor, with 800 patents to his name. He has won quite a few prizes over the years, including the Edwin H. Land medal awarded for achievement in the printing and imaging industry. He has also won a number of prizes for his life's work, and has been granted a number of honorary PhD's.

Landa currently deals in nanotechnology in printing, energy, and health, and is also focusing on investment in promising Israeli technologies and educational philanthropy enabling disadvantaged young people to gain a higher education.

Landa is also Israel's candidate for the title of global entrepreneur of the year, to be announced next June in Monaco. Representatives of 50 countries are participating in the competition.
