Subscribers with 40 mbps bandwidth will be upgraded automatically, at no extra charge.

Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) is making 100 mbps bandwidth standard. Today, the company announced that it would upgrade all customers currently surfing at 40 mbps to 100 mbps, automatically, and at no extra charge.

Subscribers already surfing at 100 mbps will see the price of their package fall to the current price of the 40 mbps package, that is, from NIS 129 to NIS 119 monthly. By the time the upgrade process is complete, 30% of Bezeq's subscribers will have 100 mbps bandwidth.

Bezeq's upgrade applies to the telecommunications infrastructure. ISPs will have to decide whether to come into line with the upgrade. In the past, some of them have not done so, but it is fairly clear that in the end Bezeq's move will affect the entire Internet market, and will force the ISPs to adapt.
