Charges for ten beaches will be removed. Aryeh Deri: This summer, people will enjoy this natural resource for free.

Minister of the Interior and Minister of the Development of the Negev and Galilee Aryeh Deri has decided to abolish entrance fees charged at several of Israel's beaches, the haredi media reported yesterday.

The decision relates to ten beaches that are currently accessible only by paying an entrance fee. The decision means that access to all of Israel's beaches will be free of charge.

The Ministry of the Interior said in a statement, "The local authorities that up to now have required payment for entry to beaches will be compensated in an amount of NIS 7 million for the losses, and all citizens of Israel will thereby be able to use beaches without charge. At this stage, the budget will finance free entry to the beaches only for next summer, but Minister of the Interior Deri intends to finance free entry to beaches for the following summer seasons as well."

Dei added, "The decision will assist in the battle to reduce the cost of living and narrow social gaps. This summer, people will enjoy this natural resource for free and will be able to access the beaches and enjoy bathing in the sea and the facilities on the beaches. The decision will enable every citizen, rich and poor alike, to bathe in the sea without charge and to enjoy Israel's natural resources without unnecessary expense."
