Druzenet, which provides production services for complex parts for the defense industry, has inaugurated a new plant in Isfiya in the Carmel mountain range. The plant will produce parts for assembling Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd.'s (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). NIS 12 million was invested in the plant, which will employ 30 Druze women in engineering, management, and operations jobs.
In preparation for operations at the new plant, the Druze women were trained for six months at various IAI facilities.
"The proportion of Druze women with academic degrees is the highest since the establishment of the state," IAI director and co-initiator of the new plant in Isfiya Amal Assad said. "For us, the fact that we have managed to create a new industry, in which Druze women are finding their place in an area in which formerly only men worked constitutes the breaking down of a barrier, and it is only the first sign."
Druzenet CEO Anwar Saab said, "The Druze have undergone a significant change over the past decade. Druze young people are being employed in all economic sectors, from the most traditional to high tech." The components made by the dozens of Druze women in the new plant will be sent to other IAI facilities in which the UAVs are assembled before being shipped to the company's customers. IAI sells UAVs to 50 customers worldwide.
