TechTime reports that the processor is from the HDClear family, designed to improve audio command capabilities.
TechTime reports that a teardown report by chipworks labs on the Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch reveals that the watch contains a digital signal processor from Israel's DSP Group Inc. (Nasdaq: DSPG). The HDClear processor improves the device's audio command capabilities.
"They include noise reduction algorithms and filtering ambient noise of any kind to deliver 'cleaner' speech to ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition)," TechTime report, noting that DSP Group claims on its website that HDClear technology outperforms other available solutions, with Word Error Rate (WER) under 20% in any ambient noise environment.
DSPG refused to comment on the TechTime report.
