Elbit Systems invests in nanomaterials co CENS

Cluster Engineered Nano Space (CENS) is in Elbit's Beersheva Incubit incubator.

Incubit Technology Ventures, the incubator of Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) in Beersheva, will invest NIS 2.5 million in portfolio company Cluster Engineered Nano Space Ltd. - CENS. CENS is developing innovative technology of nano-clusters to improve the performance of electrodes for super-capacitors and rechargeable ion-lithium batteries. The company's proprietary process grows carbon nanotubes (CNTs) directly onto the surface of particles to achieve improved electrical conductivity, thermal transport, and reaction efficiency.

Incubit provides added value through its synergy with Elbit Systems' technologies and infrastructures. CENS will work closely with Elbit Systems' super-capacitors group, which works with nanomaterials, with the objective of creating a competitive edge.

"I am pleased by the investment in the company and see the possibilities of working with Elbit Systems' super-capacitors group, including use of its laboratories and other facilities, which give CENS unique value in knowhow and development process to achieve the desired results," said CENS CEO Michael Bromfman.

CENS will also work with Tadiran Batteries Ltd. on another product based on its CNTs to test the latter's raw materials for ion-lithium batteries.
