Eldan and Shlomo Sixt win IDF leasing tender

The winning vehicle in the bid is the Mitsubishi Attrage.

The Defense Ministry has announced that Eldan and Shlomo Sixt have won the IDF's largest vehicle leasing tender for 3,500 vehicles for officers and an option on an additional 5,000 vehicles. The cars will be for officers of the rank of major. At a later stage the 9,000 vehicles currently in the IDF leasing fleet will also be replaced.

In addition to Eldan and Shlomo, Albar, a major supplier in the past, also bid for the tender but did not win.

The winning vehicle in the bid was the Mitsubishi Attrage, which was deemed almost the only vehicle to meet the technical specifications of the IDF. Its major rival was the Peugeot 301.

Market sources believe that the IDF received a leasing price that is considerably lower than the private market. The Defense Ministry believes that savings in costs compared with the previous tender are as much as 30%, or tens of millions of shekels over five years.
