The annual volume of cyber security technology exports is estimated at $2.5 billion. Given the expected growth in the sector in the coming decade, the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute has decided to establish a special unit to promote Israeli companies on its behalf. The new unit will provide Israeli cyber companies with services to promote technology exports in the sector, and will create connections with leading security and intelligence agencies around the world. Figures collected by the Export Institute show that over 200 cyber security companies are operating in Israel in a field that is growing at 8% a year. Their main market is the US, and most of the technologies exported there are designed to protect government, military, and financial infrastructure, in addition to protection of strategic facilities. Achiad Alter, until recently marketing coordinator in the Export Institute's homeland security section, will head the new unit.
According to Export Institute director general Ofer Sachs, Israeli companies involved in the sector will soon receive advice for professional exhibitions, conferences, and business meetings with parties and procurement delegations representing potential customers. "The global cyber security market is a growing market estimated at $68 billion, and is expected to grow 8% a year until 2023. Most of the growth is in China, India, Russia, and South Korea, and the Israel companies are capable of providing a broad solution for the requirements arising in the global market," he said.
In two weeks, the Export Institute will hold its third international conference on homeland security in Tel Aviv, in which it will try to expose delegations from security, defense, intelligence, policy, and military organizations from all over the world to new technologies of Israel defense and security companies. One of the emphases in the upcoming conference will be on the local cyber industry, and an exhibition held near the conference will feature presentations of innovative developments by Israeli companies in the area of defense against network attacks. Companies making presentations include Trapx, which will launch a unique system that analyzes the methods of attackers on the network and proposes ways of avoiding future attacks by the same attacker, including a detailed report on the extend of the damage; Slingshot, which has developed a real time intelligence gathering system that makes it possible to trace threats aimed against a particular organization, detect planned attacks, and detect cases of stolen passwords and codes; and RADiFlow, which will present a system that provides immediate warning of a cyber attack aimed at essential infrastructure.
