The Ministry of Finance Accountant General department today officially published the results of the major cellular tender for state employees, won by Pelephone Communications Ltd. The results indicate the benefits received by state employees under the preceding tender, in comparison with the new one.
The volume of calls and messages was increased from 5,000 to 7,500, the volume of the surfing package rose from six gigabytes to 15 gigabytes, new services not included in the old tender were added (a 100-gigabyte cloud-based backup service, music for a waiting call service), and best of all, the cost of the plans was lowered from NIS 93 (for a six-gigabyte volume surfing package) to NIS 28.80 or NIS 35 (for surfing packages of eight and 12 gigabytes, respectively).
In addition, it is clear that the cost of repairs for the cellular devices purchased under the old agreement will be lowered from NIS 26.90 a month under the old agreement to NIS 17 a month.
The announcement shows additional aspects of the tender, including the value of the benefit executives entitled to a device from the state will receive. These executives can receive a plan including the full package of calls, messages, and surfing, plus a new leased cellular device, for only NIS 40 a month.
The deal includes a device with a 5.5-inch screen from among the most advanced models of the leading companies. Pelephone is also offering executives a permanent device for a car, including installation.
The second plan for executives, which costs NIS 36.30 a month, includes a device with a screen of up to 5.2 inches.
State employees wishing to buy a cellular device can obtain a discount, but the differences for iPhone devices are not large; they are more significant for other models, such as Samsung, HTC, and LG.
For example, a Galaxy S7, which costs around NIS 3,500 on the market, will cost a state employee NIS 2,500 - a very significant 30% discount.
A state employee wishing to buy an iPhone 6S plus device, which has a market price of about NIS 4,300 (16 gigabytes) can buy the device through the state for NIS 3,810 - a 12% discount.
