Judea and Samaria are defined as a national priority area.

The Israeli government is to approve a substantial aid package to settlements in Judea and Samaria today, Channel 2 News reports. The package is worth tens of millions of shekels. The justification for the package is security, but the transfers are not necessarily related to the security situation. For the purposes of the aid package, Judea and Samaria are defined as a national priority area.

Among the items that are part of the package are: NIS 15 million as a one-time grant to local authorities in Judea and Samaria; NIS 10 million for turning temporary structures into permanent buildings; NIS 3.5 million for supporting small businesses; and NIS 15 million for development of tourism.

The government will also discuss a plan for combating construction violations in the Arab sector. This is as a condition for a large government aid program for the sector.
