Israel Police Cyber Unit has arrested two Israelis suspected of manipulating US stocks after hacking the computers of JP Morgan Chase & Co and stealing details of millions of customers. The investigation was carried out by Israel Police in coordination with the FBI, which had collected enough alleged evidence regarding the Israelis. Media reports say that this is allegedly one of the largest hacking crimes ever committed with details of 80 million customers stolen from the computers of JP Morgan and other banks.
The Israelis were arrested after their offices were searched and today they will be brought to the Jerusalem Magistrates Court for a hearing about extradition to the US.
The arrests are the culmination of a months-long investigation into a group of friends from Israel, the US and Russia, with alleged links to Russian gangs, who met at Florida State University 10 years ago.
A third arrest has reportedly been made in Florida.
