Energy Ministry director general Shaul Meridor has been telling investors in New York about the project.

Ministry of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources director general Shaul Meridor is currently holding a round of meetings in New York with potential investors in Israel's natural gas market. Among other things, he has been talking about the Israel-Turkey gas pipeline, which might be built. He said that Turkey's relative proximity to Israel means that the pipeline could be swiftly laid.

The project is now back firmly on the agenda after Israel and Turkey signed a reconciliation agreement earlier this week ending six years of hostilities following the Mava Marmara Gaza flotilla incident in 2010.

Meridor also spoke about the possible construction of a gas pipeline to Greece via Cyprus but said that such a project would be complex and expensive and its economic viability was dependent on future discoveries.
