Israeli mobile game company TabTale has acquired US rival Sunstorm Games. No price for the acquisition was given, but estimates are that TabTale is paying $6 million for the Las Vegas-based kids mobile game developer, which has more than 100 games released to date and millions of dedicated customers.
This is TabTale's first US acquisition, after previously buying China's Coco Play and Serbia's Level Bit . The Tel Aviv based company was founded in 2010 by CEO Sagi Schliesser, Oren Kushnir and Nir Berejano.
TabTale has over 600 million downloads of its mobile games and kids educational apps, and the company is repeatedly ranked among the top 10 mobile game publishers worldwide in downloads on Apple AppStore, Google Play Store and Amazon App Store. Sunstorm Games specializes in kids games and was one of TabTale's main competitors, with over 5 million monthly active users. This first acquisition in North America is part of TabTale's global development plan, and is the company’s third acquisition in the past year.
TabTale CEO Sagi Schliesser said, "We followed Sunstorm's activity for a while and reached the conclusion that acquiring Sunstorm and working alongside its talented team, will not only enrich our portfolio, but will also expand our worldwide reach. Sunstorm Games has a proven loyal fan base, similar to that of TabTale. We look forward to collaborating with Sunstorm and continuing to develop the best mobile games for our loyal customers, over 40 million monthly active users, the majority of whom are in the US."
