The Israeli start-up allows users to virtually try clothes on using a simulated 3D avatar.

Vilnius Lithuania, September 12, 2014 - Israeli start-up Fitterli, which is introducing a new way to shop for clothing online, won first place in Intel’s Business Challenge Europe 2014. The winning team has developed a unique solution allowing online shoppers to visualize how garments will look on them by using 3D avatars that have been personalized to simulate their physiques. Users will be able to try clothes on their virtual bodies without needing to visit the brick and mortar store.

The finalists were from twelve countries: Israel, Norway, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Romania, the UK, Bulgaria, Ireland, Denmark, and Poland. All of the participants received training and support from international experts during the preparation for the competition, in order to refine their ideas, develop realistic business plans, and to fine-tune their presentations in order to draw attention and attract investors.

Fitterli was one of three Israeli representatives in the final stage of the competition. The others were Pzartech, which is developing an app that makes the world of 3D printing accessible to the masses, and Augmedics, developer of a medical device that improves the penetration of spinal screws during surgery. The three companies are all graduates of the Technion Israel Institute of Technology start-up incubator and the Technion-Intel BizTECH entrepreneurship program.

The final ceremony, in which the winners were announced, was held at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The five winning teams will represent Europe in the final stage of Intel’s Global Challenge 2014, which will be held at the University of California at Berkeley later this year. Intel Capital VP Marcin Hejka, who was chairman of the judges’ panel, said: “I was amazed to see the dynamic and innovative works that were submitted to the competition this year. Starting with retail technology and ending in medical innovation, the ideas showed an exemplary entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to combine social innovation with technology. The competition is a wonderful opportunity for young entrepreneurs to bring their ideas before the broader community, and the winders can now realize the potential of their ideas in the market and to develop the products and ideas.”
