The lake has risen 3 centimeters since Friday. Some places in Israel have already received their average annual rainfall.
The storm that hit Israel in the past few days still persists, and many roads around the country are closed to traffic because of snow, ice, landslides, or flooding. The Israel Water Authority reports this morning that the level of Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee), Israel's main water reservoir, rose 2.5 centimeters in the previous 24 hours, mostly from rain directly onto the lake.
Since Friday, the lake has risen three centimeters, and it is now at 212.73 meters below sea level. The level of the lake is expected to continue rising in the next few days because of the large amount of rainfall in northern Israel and melting snow on the surrounding hills.
Since the recent wintry bout of weather began, the lake has risen 11 centimeters. Last night alone, 30-50 millimeters of rain fell in the north and center of the country, and many places in Israel are already at 80-100% of their average total annual rainfall.
