Mon: Banks boost TASE

The big banks rose strongly as Opko and Israel Corp, led the gains.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 1.17% to 1,449.77 points; the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 1.19%, to 1,268.27 points; and the BlueTech Index rose 1.50% to 363.38 points. The TelBond 20 corporate bond index fell 0.08% 321.19 points. Trading turnover was NIS 1.22 billion.

On the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative rate down 0.261% today compared with Friday's rate at NIS 3.817/$, and the representative shekel-euro rate was set up 0.274% at NIS 4.093/€.

On the market Opko Health Inc. (NYSE: OPK; TASE: OPK) rose 3.57% for the biggest rise on the Tel Aviv 25 Index. Israel Chemicals (TASE: ICL: NYSE: ICL) rose 2.405 and parent company Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO) rose 3.10%. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 1.22%.

Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) rose 1.35% on the day's biggest trading turnover. Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) rose 2.52%, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) rose 1.67% and Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) rose 1.94%. Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) rose 1.91%.

Few shares on the Tel Aviv 25 Index fell today. Isramco Ltd. (Nasdaq: ISRL; TASE: ISRA.L) fell 0.90% for the biggest fall on the Tel Aviv 25 Index and Paz Oil Company Ltd. (TASE:PZOL) fell 0.52%.
