The new Tzalmon Interchange was opened to traffic in the Galilee today as part of the upgrading of the highway between the interchange and the National Water Carrier Bridge.
The four-kilometer interchange and elevated section includes a 150-meter bridge over Highway 65. A 90-meter bridge will also be constructed over Highway 907 in the direction of Maghar and Migdal. The interchange, which is replacing two junctions on the site, facilitates safe and entrances to and exits from Highway 807 at high speed.
There are agricultural crossings and animal crossings beneath the new section of road between the new interchange and the National Water Carrier Bridge. The new section includes new bus stops, a southern lookout post with a view of the Hukok Valley and the Galilee hills and Golan Heights, and nearby parking spaces near the National Water Carrier.
The new road section joins three sections of road opened in their final form in recent months: two on Highway 65 (one between the Golani Interchange and Mitzpe Netofa and one between Masad and Tzalmon) and one on Highway 85 between Amiad Junction and the new Nahal Amud Interchange. The new interchanges are already relieving traffic congestion in northern Israel, which will be especially welcome during the Passover holiday when trippers descend on the region in droves.
