The Cross Israel Highway now stretches 175 kilometers from Ein Tut in the north to Shoket in the south.

A new section of Road 6, the Cross Israel Highway, opened earlier this week between the Shoket West Interchange in the Negev and the Shoket Interchange.

Road 6 at the Shoket Interchange now gives access to Road 60 south of Beersheva and makes it easier to reach the Negev cities eastern neighborhoods and Omer.

At this stage only the southern carriageway between Shoket West and Shoket has opened with the northern lanes due to open in a few weeks.

With the opening of the latest section, Road 6 will extend from Ein Tut in the north via 18 interchanges to Shoket West 175 kilometers to the south - a journey of 90 minutes with the speed limit on the road recently raised to 120 kilometers per hour. Road 6 is a toll road in the north and center of the country but is free from the Sorek Interchange southwards including the recently opened section.

Eventually, Road 6 is planned to reach Hanegev Junction to serve the recently completed IDF Training Base city. The next section to open will be the 13 kilometer stretch from Shoket Interchange to the Nevatim Interchange.
