Pelephone's own-brand smartphones come in two models, with a low-price model to be launched shortly.

Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) mobile telephony unit Pelephone reports that it has sold some 5,000 of its newly launched own-brand GINI smartphones in two weeks.

The company launched two GINI models: the N6, a premium smartphone with 32 GB of memory and a 13 megapixel camera that sells for NIS 1,499; and the W5, which has 16 GB of memory expandable by a further 16 GB and a 13 megapixel camera, and sells for NIS 999.

Pelephone will shortly launch the S4, a 3G device, to be priced at NIS 599, and additional models and products under the GINI brand.

Pelephone VP marketing Ilan Segal said, "The launch of the private smartphone brand at Pelephone is a success story as far as we are concerned. The category of smartphones that give excellent value to the customer is growing worldwide, and we have discovered that the trend has now arrived in Israel as well, in the light of the high demand for GINI handsets. We made the first experiment in the Israeli industry, and saw that there is room for new smartphones, when they come with the right package and with warranties and backing from a mobile company."
