Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz persuaded the Senior Appointments Committeee that Ron-Tal should be given a third term.
Minister of Finance Moshe Kahlon and Minister of National Infrastructures, Energy and Water Resources Yuval Steinitz today officially approved the appointment of Yiftah Ron-Tal to a third term as chairman of Israel Electric Corporation (IEC). Reserve general Ron-Tal has been chairman of IEC since 2010, and his appointment for a further three-year term was expected.
In general, the Committee on Senior Appointments, currently headed by retired judge Bilhah Gilor, is not usually inclined to approve a third term for the chairman of the board of a government company, but Kahlon and Steinitz wrote to the committee in favor of the move in this case. The committee requested a second letter from Steinitz, in which he managed to persuade it that Ron-Tal had outstanding abilities that justified the renewed appointment.
