The Israeli startups scene is already saturated with incubators and technology accelerators, but it seems that there is always room for one more. Taya Investment Co. Ltd. (TASE: TAYA), parent company of Taya Communications and one of the owners of Herzliya Studios, is expected to launch a technological incubator for video content startups in 10 days.
Taya Investment, owned by Amiram Giniger, called the new incubator Taya Ventures. It is expected to make seed investments in startups, in addition to advising and mentoring entrepreneurs. Taya Investment is traded on the TASE at a market cap of NIS 138.5 million. The launch is expected to take place at Herzliya Studios, and the incubator may be located there.
Many technology companies and startups operate in Herzliya, as well as incubators and technology accelerators, such the one started by Microsoft, but most of those are in Herzliya Pituah, while Herzliya Studios is located on the other side of the Tel Aviv-Haifa road.
One of the partners in Taya Ventures is Kobi Marenko, president and cofounder of Taptica, a mobile advertising firm recently sold to Marimedia for $13 million. Marenko was formerly CEO of Logia Mobile, Cellcom Israel Ltd.'s (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) content company. He was a cofounder of New 10, and is a former correspondent for Channel 2 News.
