The municipality may integrate data on traffic signal times, parking lots, and more.

The Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality recently opened some of its transportation databases to the development of apps designed to relieve traffic jams and parking shortages in the Dan Region. The municipality's new open databases include information about traffic signal times, beachside parking lots, Tel-O-Fun bicycle leasing services, and the number of cars on the road.

"Negotiations are taking place between the municipality and Waze. to integrate the data we offer in their application," said Tel Aviv development department manager Aviad Heilbrun. "We're supplying this information free of charge, and we hope the negotiations are successful."

The municipality's data can provide Waze users with information about streets on which night maintenance work is taking place and roads blocked by the police for events like marathon races and demonstrations - frequent events in Tel Aviv. The municipality also provides information about times when traffic lights turn green and the number of parking spaces available in parking lots all over the city.

The municipality has opened its database in the framework of App2Go competition for development of applications for the relief of traffic problems in the Dan Region. The competition is in cooperation with the EcoMotion community, which was founded for the purpose of encouraging entrepreneurial activity in smart transportation.
