Teleclal buys cellular technology co Appcell

Appcell’s technology integrates 3G cellular content and services with websites.

Teleclal Ltd. has completed its acquisition of cellular technology company Appcell Mobile Technologies Ltd., increasing its stake in the company from 30% to 82%. The company did not disclose the size of the deal, but sources inform ''Globes'' that the price was $5-7 million at a company value of $10 million.

Alex Benedek founded the company in 2002, using his own capital. The company has received outside financing. The company develops cellular communications technologies that integrate content and services between mobile devices and websites. The system can identify and manage 3G cellular content and adapt it to the handset model. The company expanded internationally last year, and is in advanced negotiations with cellular service providers in Greece, Turkey, France and Argentina.

Teleclal is a profitable privately owned company with an annual turnover of NIS 60 million. Over the past three years, it has acquired Telemesser from Comverse Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: CMVT), and founded telemarketing services provider Direct Trade Ltd.
