Average monthly salary breaks NIS 10,000 barrier

The upward trend in the average Israeli salary continues, the Central Bureau of statistics reports.

The upward trend in the average wage in the economy is continuing. The average salary per employee in June 2015 was NIS 10,078, according to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics. Trend data show a rise in the average salary per employee in current prices. The average salary per employee was up by an annualized 1.7% in April-June 2015, following a 3% rise in January-March 2015. The average salary per employee in fixed prices rose by an annualized 1.4% in April-June 2015, following a 3.5% annualized increase in fixed prices in January-March 2015.

The steepest rise in salary was in arts, entertainment and leisure, where the average salary in fixed prices was up by an annualized 7.2% in April-June 2015, on the heels of a 6.4% annualized rise in January-March 2015. The steepest drop, on the other hand, was in the financial and insurance services sector, while the average salary per employee in fixed prices dropped by an annualized 8% in April-June 2015, following a 3.7% annualized decrease in January-March 2015.

The number of wage-earners was 3.406 million. The sharpest rise in the number of wage-earners was in professional, scientific, and technical services, where the number of salaries positions was up by an annualized 2.6% in April-June 2015, after rising by an annualized 5% in January-March 2015.

The largest sector was non-financial, with 2.212 million salaried positions, 65% of all the jobs in Israel. The average wage in this sector was NIS 9,993. There were 636,900 jobs in the governmental sector, 18.7% of all the salaried jobs in Israel, and the average wage in this sector was NIS 12,714. There were 102,400 salaried jobs in the financial companies sector, 3% of all jobs in Israel, and the average wage in this sector was NIS 16,883. There were 220,200 salaried positions in the household sector, 6.5% of all jobs in Israel, and the average wage in this sector was NIS 4,381. In the private non-profit organizations sector, there were 234,300 salaried positions, 6.9% of all jobs in Israel, and the average wage was NIS 6,089.
