Thu: Tel Aviv 35 Index down 0.4% for week

The TASE ended a tough week on a strong uptick with Teva rising strongly but Elbit Systems plunging.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange rose today. The Tel Aviv 35 Index rose 1.15% to 1,582.79 points; the Tel Aviv 125 Index rose 1.03% to 1,418.09 points; and the BlueTech Global Index rose 0.55% to 371.73 points. The TelBond 20 corporate bond index fell 0.05% to 348.39 points. Trading turnover was NIS 1.07 billion. The Tel Aviv 35 Index was down 0.4% for the week but has risen 4.8% since the start of 2018.

On the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative rate down 0.135% at NIS 3.688/$ from yesterday's rate and set the shekel-euro rate up 0.258% at 4.192/€.

On the market, Opko Health Inc. (NYSE: OPK; TASE: OPK) rose 5.58% for the biggest rise on the Tel Aviv 35 Index. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 4.51%. NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) rose 1.57% and Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO) rose 0.96%. Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) rose 1.28% and Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) rose 0.60%.

Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) fell 5.97% for the biggest fall on the Tel Aviv 35 Index on the day's biggest trading turnover after reporting its second quarter financials. Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) fell 1.23% after reporting a loss in the second quarter.
