Wed: TASE down but banks gain

Energy stocks Delek and Energean led the TASE lower today but the banks and Teva bucked the market.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange fell today. The Tel Aviv 35 Index fell 0.27%, to 1,617.02 points; the Tel Aviv 125 Index fell 0.30% to 1,627.75 points; and the BlueTech Global Index fell 0.35% to 328.12 points. The All Bond corporate bond index rose 0.02% to 360.83 points. Turnover totaled NIS 1.66 billion in equities and NIS 3.73 billion in bonds.

On the foreign exchange market, the Bank of Israel set the representative shekel-dollar rate unchanged from Tuesday, at NIS 4.063/$, and the representative shekel-euro rate was set 0.463% lower at NIS 4.297/€.

Bank Leumi (TASE:LUMI) led the market today, rising 0.48% on the day's biggest trading turnover. Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) rose 0.78%, Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) rose 1.78% and Mizrahi Tefahot Bank rose 0.51%.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 1.19% and Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE:ESLT) rose 0.98%.

Alony Hetz (TASE: ALHZ) fell 5.65% for the biggest fall on The Tel Aviv 35 Index today. Delek Group Ltd. (TASE:DLEKG) fell 3.22%, and Energean (LSE: ENOG; TASE: ENOG) fell 3.38%. ICL (TASE: ICL: NYSE: ICL) fell 2.03% and Ormat Technologies Inc. (NYSE: ORA; TASE: ORA) fell 2.79%.
