Snow is forecast in Jerusalem and the central hills mainly on Monday night.

Heavy rain has been falling all over Israel since last night, and there has been some light snow on the Hermon. Schools are operating normally in the north of the country, with snow expected only from this afternoon.

The forecast winter weather system reached Israel on Saturday afternoon, and since then there has been rainfall in most parts of the country. The rain and winds strengthened overnight. Snow began falling on the Hermon, and it is expected to spread to the Golan and the hilly areas of Galilee and the center. The rain from the north to the Negev will be accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, and there are warnings of flooding.

The maximum temperatures forecast for today are 4 degrees Celsius in Safed, 11 in Haifa, 13 in Tel Aviv, and 4 in Jerusalem. Snow is expected to reach the higher neighborhoods of Jerusalem tonight, but is not expected to lie. Snow is expected to fall in Jerusalem and central hills mainly on Monday night, and may accumulate to a depth of a few centimeters on the higher hills, such as in the Gush Etzion area. There is a possibility of light snow on Tuesday on the Negev range and in Mitzpe Ramon. The rain will cease on Wednesday but temperatures will remain low.

Magen David Adom says it is prepared with suitable vehicles to reach anyone in need of emergency medical assistance in snow affected areas.
