Wix will be the second Israeli company after SodaStream to broadcast a spot in the National Football League final.
Israeli Internet company Wix.com Ltd. (Nasdaq: WIX) will broadcast an advertisement on the television broadcast of the 2015 Super Bowl in February, the finals of the National Football League (NFL). Wix has developed a platform for easy construction of websites, aimed mostly at small businesses. The advertisement to be broadcast during the Super Bowl is part of a branding campaign designed to spread the message that Wix is offering an advanced technological solution enabling every business owner to make his or her own website with ease. The campaign will also include special content and video clips to be distributed exclusively on various social networks.
"In addition to being a huge sports event and the most widely viewed broadcast on US television, the Super Bowl is the arena in which the largest brands display the most expensive and highly developed advertisements of the year, and we're very excited to be part of it," said Wix VP marketing Omer Shai . "A campaign like this is a gigantic challenge, but challenges are what get our marketing department going." Cofounded and managed by CEO Avishai Abrahami, Wix held its Nasdaq IPO a year ago, and is currently traded at a $668 million market cap.
A 30-second spot during the upcoming Super Bowl, scheduled for February 1, 2015, costs $4.5 million.
