Security technology co readies systems for Pope's visit

Hashmira has set up a national command and control system for the Pontiff's tour of Israel.

Hashmira Security Technologies Ltd. (TASE:SHMI) has set up a command and control center to supervise security during the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Israel. Hashmira, which says this is one of the largest such command-control operations in Israel over the past decade, estimates that that it will cost NIS 1.5 million.

The Pope arrives tomorrow and Hasmhira's system has been linked to all the sites that the Pontiff will visit, including Jerusalem's Old City, Yad Vashem, Hadassah Medical Center in Ein Kerem, the Notre Dame Hospice in Jerusalem, the residence of the Vatican Ambassador to Israel, and the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth.

Hashmira's command and control center will provide remote monitoring solutions of the sites being visited by the Pope to Israel's police and security forces.
