Shekel strengthens against pound

Traders worldwide pushed down the value of the UK currency on worries about the British economy.

The shekel strengthened sharply against the British pound yesterday, as foreign currency traders around the world pushed down the value of the UK currency on worries about the British economy. The representative shekel-pound rate dropped 3.86% yesterday to NIS 5.4193/₤.

The shekel-pound exchange rate has fallen 26.7% in the past twelve months. One year ago, the shekel-pound exchange was NIS 7.401/₤. The exchange rate is little changed today, reaching NIS 5.4163/₤.

The shekel-dollar exchange rate is stable, rising 0.08% to NIS 3.891/$, while the shekel-euro rate is dipping 0.16% to NIS 5.0361/€.

Yesterday, the Bank of Israel set the representative shekel-dollar rate 1.25% higher at NIS 3.888/$, and set the representative shekel-euro rate 0.826% lower at NIS 5.0441/€.
