Electricity Authority sets privately-produced wind power rates

The total quota for will be 30 megawatts through 2016.

The Public Utilities Authority (Electricity) today published the principles for regulations and rates for electricity generated by small wind turbines. Consumers will be able to generate their own electricity and sell the surplus to the national grid. This follows a similar measure for solar power.

The maximum output of a domestic wind turbine (household rate) will be 15 kilowatts, and the maximum output of a general customer's wind turbine (commercial and industrial rate) will be 50 kilowatts. The total quota for will be 30 megawatts through 2016.

The Public Utilities Authority set two rates for wind-generated electricity: NIS 1.60 per kilowatt/hour for small turbines up to 10 kilowatts of output, and NIS 1.25 per kilowatt/hour for small turbines of 10-50 kilowatts of output. These rates will be reduced by 2% a year.
