Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STRS)president and CEO Erze Vigodman, who last week announced his resignation, was the top earning CEO of a public company in 2008. His salary cost Strauss NIS 18.2 million for the year.
In second place was Bezeq Israel Telecommunications Company Ltd. (TASE:BZEQ) chairman Shmuel Rodav who earned NIS 15.1 million, followed by Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd. (TASE: MAIN) chairman and CEO Avraham Bigger who earned NIS 14.6 million in 2008.
In fourth place was Israel Chemicals Ltd. (TASE: ICL) president and CEO Akiva Mozes whose salary for the year amounted to NIS 13.7 million, while in fifth place was Bezeq subsidiary Pelephone Communications Ltd. president and CEO Gil Sharon with NIS 12.5 million.
In sixth was Israel Corp. (TASE:ILCO) CEO Nir Gilad with NIS 12.4 million. In seventh place was Equity One Inc. (NYSE:EQY) CEO Jeffrey Olson with earning of NIS 12.4 million in 2007, while eighth was Civil Europe chairman Pinchas Tzarfati with earnings of NIS 12.2 million.
Ninth was Gazit-Globe (TASE:GLOB) chairman Chaim Katzman who earned NIS 11.9 million in 2008 and tenth was Poalim Capital Markets Ltd. president and CEO Nir Brunstein who earned NIS 11.5 million in 2008.
