Today's meeting with the Governor of the Bank of Israel was held at Bank Hapoalim controlling shareholder Shari Arison's request.
A further meeting took place this afternoon between Shari Arison, controlling shareholder in Bank Hapoalim (LSE: BKHD; TASE: POLI), and Governor of the Bank of Israel Stanley Fischer. The meeting was held at Arison's request, and followed the meeting on Monday at which Fischer admonished Arison and expressed sharp criticism of the way the Bank Hapoalim board was being run.
No comment on the report could be obtained from the Arison group.
Arison continues to back Hapoalim chairman Dan Dankner. Sources close to Shari Arison said this evening after the meeting with Fischer that she "appreciates the work of the chairman of the board and the bank's management, and has absolutely no involvement in the way the bank is run or in its activity."
