DSPG chip to power D-Link VoIP telephony product

The VoIP solution will enable D-Link to develop an array of cordless-over-IP (CoIP) digital home telephony products for usage across the globe.

Wireless chipset developer DSP Group Inc. (Nasdaq: DSPG) reported that communications network equipment developer D-Link will use a DSPG system-on-chip solution in its next-generation VoIP product.

The XvoiP Vega Firebird will enable D-Link to develop an array of cordless-over-IP (CoIP) digital home telephony products for usage across the globe.

D-Link senior manager Kevin Chen said, "The popularity of IP-centric devices in the home continues to grow through increased usage of IP phones, WLAN routers, surveillance cameras, tablets, and IPTV."

DSPG Senior VP and East Asia President Ofer Elyakim said that the project underscores DSP Group's leadership position in DECT, which helped drive the development of the XvoiP Vega Firebird.

D-Link develops and manufactures networking, broadband, digital electronics, voice and data communications solutions for the digital home, small office/home office (SOHO), small-to-medium business (SMB), and workgroup-to-enterprise environments.

Shares in DSPG closed yesterday at $6.73, giving it a market cap of $152.99 million.
