Tapuz People Ltd. (TASE:TPUZ) internet site owned by Ilan Ben-Dov's Suny Electronic Inc. Ltd. (TASE:SUNY) will donate NIS 40,000 to the Jerusalem based charity Zichron Menachem - The Israeli Association to Support Children With Cancer and their Families at the request of Israeli-born international model Bar Refaeli.
The donation was agreed in an out-of-court settlement between Ben-Dov and Refaeli after the Israeli model sued Tapuz and Suny two years ago for NIS 350,000 for allegedly using her name without permission in ads. Suny is the sole importer to Israel of Samsung mobile phones.
The settlement has been given the status of a court ruling by the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court.
Last week Ben-Dov acquired Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) from Hutchison Telecommunications International Ltd. (NYSE: HTX; HKSE: 2332) through Suny subsidiary Scailex Corp. Ltd. (TASE: SCIX; Pink Sheets:SCIXF).
Refaeli has appeared in TV ads in Israel for Suny and Samsung phones but in another case she is also claiming NIS 4.4 million from Suny, on the grounds that the ad campaign was used without her permission in cinemas and on the Internet.
Suny insist that they have not violated any agreements and that she is behaving as if "I deserve everything and not you."
The current settlement stipulates that it does not compromise Refaeli's rights in her other suit against Suny.
