A delegation of young diplomats from Turkey's Foreign Ministry and from Turkish embassies in the region will be visiting Israel this week, through November 20th. The delegation arrives within the framework of a cooperation agreement to train young diplomats and exchange diplomatic delegations. The agreement was signed by the directors general of the foreign ministries of Turkey and Israel in 2008.
According to an Israeli foreign ministry spokesman, the agreement and reciprocal visits is aimed at deepening ties between the foreign ministries of the two countries and fostering a better understanding of the challenges faced by both foreign ministries and countries.
A delegation of young diplomats from Israel visited Turkey for the first time under the agreement in November 2008.
Israel and Turkey have cooperated on commercial and military levels, but Turkish politicians have become increasingly strident in condemning Israeli actions, specifically its operation against Hamas in Gaza.
