Motorola Israel head steps down after 40 years

Elisha Yanay will resign from day-to-day operations in January.

Motorola VP and Motorola Israel president and general manager Elisha Yanay has asked to step down upon reaching retirement age, after 40 years at the company, including 20 as general manager. He will initially resign from day-to-day operations in January 2010, although he will stay in other capacities in order to ensure business continuity.

Motorola Israel director Israel Markets Operation Shimon Dick will take over from Yanay as general manager in January, and upon Yanay's full retirement, will also assume the company's presidency.

Dick has a B.Sc. cum laude in electrical engineering from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, and a M.Sc. from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He is also a graduate of MBA programs from Tel Aviv University and Northwestern University in Chicago.

Yanay said, "Shimon Dick is a real leader and dynamic entrepreneur who will undoubtedly continue to take Motorola forward to a successful future. We've been blessed by a worthy successor."
