Orbit wins US Homeland Security deal

A US customer won a tender which stipulated "Orbit or equivalent systems".

Satellite communications and tracking systems developer Orbit Alchut Technologies Ltd. (TASE:ORBI) has won a NIS 8 million follow-on order from a customer who won a tender to supply, among others, the US Department of Homeland Security. The order is for an airborne digital audio management system (ADAMS).

The Department of Homeland Security published the tender for airborne audio systems for its multirole enforcement aircraft in January 2009. The tender defined the systems as "Orbit or equivalent systems", thereby unofficially marking the company's products as the standard. The US company that won the tender offered Orbit systems.

Orbit CEO Avi Cohen said, "We're very proud that our systems are the de facto standard for airborne digital audio management of the US Department of Homeland Security."

Orbit is headquartered in Netanya, and it has offices in the US, Europe, and Singapore. The company's share rose 0.9% by midday to NIS 13.85, giving a market cap of NIS 118 million.
