ACC Group headed by Jacky Ben Zaken and Chaim Lebovits has won the Med-Ashdod oil exploration license. The Oil Council yesterday discussed the request for the Med-Ashdod oil exploration license off Israel's southern Mediterranean coast and their decision will be officially published in the next few hours.
The Oil Council has nine members who were appointed by the Minister of National Infrastructures. The chairman of the Oil Council, who was appointed last month, is Mayor of Ariel and former Likud MK Ron Nachman. He has served on the council, on and off, since 2001.
ACC was one of four groups that competed for the Med-Ashdod license. US based Lebovits is a prominent figure in the Habad movement and is the president of ACC International Holdings whose interests in Israel include Brainstorm Cell Therapeutics Ltd. (Bulletin Board:BCLI.). Ben Zaken is an Ashdod-based real estate entrepreneur who is chairman of Financial Levers Ltd. (TASE:LVR).
