Supermarket tycoon Rami Levi buys into Holyland site

The deal is worth NIS 145.5 million.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that supermarket tycoon Rami Levi and Dan Public Transportation Company Ltd. subsidiary Nahor Transportation Ltd. have jointly won an auction for the Holyland lot in Jerusalem's Bait Vegan neighborhood owned by Nidar Construction and Development Ltd. (TASE:NIDR). The deal is worth NIS 145.5 million. Sales proceeds of the apartments are estimated at NIS 400-600 million.

Nidar owns a 9-dunam (2.25-acre) lot zoned for 265 apartments and a 1,600-square meter shopping center.

Rami Levi is the controlling shareholder in Jerusalem-based independent supermarket chain Rami Levi Chain Stores Hashikma Marketing 2006 Ltd. (TASE:RMLI). Dan operates buses in the greater Tel Aviv area (the Dan Region).
