Mobile ad co Amobee signs major Philippines deal

CEO Zohar Levkovitz: This is the first time in the world that one solution is being provided for the Internet and cellular phones.

Israeli mobile advertising solutions developer Amobee Media Systems Ltd. reports that it has signed a deal with Globe Telecom, the largest cellular and Internet operator in the Philippines. The company did not disclose the size of the deal but market sources believe it is worth millions of dollars.

Amobee will provide Globe Telecom with a mobile and Internet advertising system.

Amobee CEO Zohar Levkovitz said, "The main achievement of this deal, beyond the fact that we are talking about the largest cellular and Internet operator in the Philippines, is that this is the first time in the world that one solution is being provided for the Internet and cellular phones."

He said that Amobee's solution solves campaign management problems and will serve Globe Telecom's 25 million subscribers.

Amobee develops ad campaign management platforms that can be adapted for ads relevant to SMS users, multimedia messages, video clips, music, games and Internet over mobile phones. Levkovitz said, "Our business is progressing excellently."

Amobee recently acquired UK company RingRing Media Ltd. for $15-20 million and Levkovitz said that integrating the British mobile advertising agency is proceeding smoothly, much better than expected.

Following the acquisition of RingRing, Amobee fired 10 people in Israel, explaining that this was to prevent duplication of jobs.

According to IVC, Amobee has raised $54 million to date from Accel Partners, Sequoia Capital, Globespan Capital Partners, Cisco Ventures LLC, Motorola Ventures, Telefonica, Vodafone and Amdocs Ventures.
