Class-action alleges HOT obstructs cancellations

The claimant alleges HOT ignores cancellation and disconnect notices, continues to bill subscribers, and does not respond to claims of overcharging.

Hot Cable Systems Media Ltd. (TASE: HOT) raises inhumane obstacles for subscribers seeking to disconnect services, claims a class-action lawsuit filed against the company with the Petah Tikva District Court.

The claimant, Yoni Ben-Simon, represented by Adv. Ronen Horovitz and Adv. Yaron Alon of the Horovitz Even Uzan & Co. law office says that HOT does not let subscribers disconnect from the company's cable TV service. He claims that the obstacles raised include ignoring cancellation and disconnect notices, continuing to bill subscribers, and not responding to claims of overcharging. The company also allegedly forces subscribers seeking to disconnect to repeatedly call the company and subjects them to unreasonable waiting times before a company representative responds.

The claimant alleges that HOT deliberately drags matters out and harasses subscribers in order to prevent disconnection of services and delay matters as long as possible.

In the statement of claim, the claimant details the travails he suffered in his attempt to disconnect from HOT. He is seeking NIS 105 million in compensation for HOT subscribers.
