Nova wins inspection equipment order with large Asian co

Market sources estimate the deal at $5 million.

Nova Measuring Instruments Ltd. (Nasdaq:NVMI; TASE:NVMI) has won its first order for its stand-alone optical CD metrology system from a company that produces dynamic random access memory (DRAM) processors. Nova did not disclose the name of the company.

Nova said that the order was part of a multimillion dollar deal for both stand-alone and integrated systems. Market sources estimate the deal at $5 million, and that the customer is in the Far East. Nova added that most of the systems will be shipped during the second and third quarters of this year.

Nova develops and manufactures metrology equipment for the semiconductor industry. The company has two product lines: integrated systems, which cost $250,000-350,000 each; and stand-alone systems, which cost $1 million and up. The company also provides post-sale service and maintenance.

Nova president and CEO Gabi Seligsohn told "Globes", "Use of stand-alone systems in the DRAM market is at the jump-off stage, which demonstrates the strategic importance of this order. We're talking about a large and rolling order, which we expect will grow in the near future.

Nova' share closed at $3.89 on Nasdaq yesterday, giving a market cap of $77 million. The share price fell 1.6% by mid-afternoon on the TASE today to NIS 15.10. Nova's share has not escaped the falls on stock markets, precipitated by the debt crisis in Europe, and it share fallen 35% in the past six weeks.
