Body shaping co Slender Medical set for clinical trial

Slender Medical, founded in 2007, is a portfolio company of Rainbow Medical.

Slender Medical Ltd. has obtained Ministry of Health approval to begin a Phase I clinical trial of its ultrasound body shaping device in Israel next month. The non-invasive focused high-intensity ultrasound technology is designed to remove subcutaneous lumps and fatty tissue.

The volunteers in the trial will be people due to undergo aesthetic tummy tucking surgical procedures. The trial will test the treatment's safety and effectiveness.

Slender Medical, founded in 2007, is a portfolio company of Rainbow Medical Ltd.. Rainbow Medical CEO is Efi Cohen-Arazi, and it is backed by serial entrepreneur Yossi Gross, Gross founded Slender Medical, and its CEO is Dr. Liat Tsoref.

Slender Medical believes that its device is different from devices now on the market, because it has two heads and it can continuously monitor the treatment. The device was specifically designed for small areas, such as the chin, calf, ankle, arms, and back of the thigh, which it said are not effectively treated by current devices.

The company's target market is plastic surgery and dermatology clinics; a market estimated at $8 billion.
