Orbit wins follow-on Swiss marine VSAT order

The order boosts NewSat's orders from Orbit for the past year to NIS 7 million, with more expected this year.

Satellite communications developer Orbit Alchut Technologies Ltd. (TASE:ORBI) has received a follow-on order for a marine very small aperture terminal (VSAT) from Swiss company NewSat. The order boosts NewSat's orders from Orbit for the past year to NIS 7 million, and to NIS 14.5 million over the past four years. Orbit expects more orders from NewSat over the course of the year.

Oribit is supplying marine VSATs for ships and offshore drilling platforms. The systems provide broadband capabilities for real-time two-way communications with onshore control centers, improving communications and slashing costs.

NewSat ordered a marine satellite communications system in the C-Band frequencies and with a 2.4-meter antenna, which will provide continuous communications at sea, even in severe weather conditions.

Orbit's share was unchanged in morning trading today at NIS 20.45, giving a market cap of NIS 180 million.
