Ministry to monitor every antenna

Israeli company Waveguard developed the proposed monitoring solution.

Within a month, all mobile carriers will be required to hook up with a new monitoring system whose purpose is to eliminate excessive radiation by cellular antennas, Ministry of Environmental Protection Head of Noise Abatement and Radiation Safety Department Dr. Stelian Gelberg told "Globes". This means that the ministry will be able to obtain a complete indication of every cellular antenna in Israel, at any time, and locate any antenna that exceeds the radiation standard.

The mobile carriers are scared of the new monitoring system, but they know that they have no choice but to adopt the system and work with it.

Last week, Gelberg convened a meeting on the system, at which questions were mainly raised about the technical aspects and concerns about protection of privacy on databases. It was decided that the mobile carriers will receive answers quickly, and that they will get precise timetables for installing the system within a few days.

This is a real revolution that will allow, for the first time, supervision on all cellular antennas in Israel.

Israeli company Waveguard Ltd. developed the proposed monitoring solution. It constantly monitors data on broadcasting power and traffic.

By law, every broadcasting facility requires a Ministry of Environmental Protection permit. This permit includes a theoretical calculation that the facility's radiation does not exceed safety thresholds.
